Want a place to visit? Bored of London and Manchester? A beautiful city, perhaps a little industrial however, it does not lack its beautiful parks and fountains. Sheffield holds a great city life where you can visit great places to grab some delicious food and stroll around the park. It also hold one of UK's greatest malls, which sets off a great Christmasy mood. A good place to spend your weekend where every Sunday one of Sheffield's petite street holds a weekly  themed bazzar. French food, Spanish toys and the weekend I visited there was a mini halloween theme park. Crucible, is a beautiful abstract modern art gallery which attracts the majority of youth in Sheffield  to observe the wonders of art. There are also various biking trails as well as beautiful botanic gardens such as Wentworth Castle Gardens and Brodswarth Hall (which has its very own labyrinth). A great place to spend your weekend with some friends or your family.

Sports Societies!

An opportunity to broaden your sociability skills and keep fit at the same time! UCLAN provides this great chance where you may join a sports society. You will be provided with a vast selection of whatever sports you like, excluding swimming, all you have to do is pick...How can I do this? Is your question. Well you can visit the Students Union and go to the door which is labelled under SPORTS. Ask for an itinerary and pick your activity. Some societies are free and some may require a small fee as a start up cost. Only 40 GBP which comes down to 3 or 4 pounds a month. An opportunity which you shouldn't miss!

Explore , Experience, Embrace

Students of Preston, enough sitting around at home telling everyone you had a boring weekend. There's so much to explore around Preston and all over the United Kingdom. Shopping, one possible way to spend your weekend. It's Christmas, shopping has become a delight with christmas lights everywhere,new discounts and even a brand new Crispy Cream Donut shop has opened up in Preston. Cycling, this is for the sporty lot. Preston offers you a vast choice of places which rent bicycles by the day or hour just to cruise around the city and get a natural feel rather than moving from A to B all using a Taxi. Site Seeing, Lancaster is not the only city around North which has its own monuments and natural sites to visit. Avenham Park in Preston offers a beautiful day out in the nature where you can enjoy some quite time with a good book and some good food. Moreover, Preston holds its very own historic library as well as museums and churches where you can look around and there are some great bargains around especially for student. So guys get off those sofas and explore a little.

Halloween is back!  The Scariest time of the year! A holiday we all associate with candy and spookey costumes... However, no one actually knows what halloween is. An annual celebration observed around the world on October 31st. Halloween incorporates traditions from Pagan harvest festivals and festivals honouring the dead. The word halloween was first came out in the 16th century and represents a Scottish variant of the fuller All- Hallows even (evening) that is, the night before All Hallow's day.

Cooking Madness!

Quesadilla!!

Preparation time: 5 minutes

Cooking time :5 minutes

Ingredients:

·         Large flour tortillas

·         Grated Cheese- either mild or sharp Cheddar

·         Olive oil or grape seed oil

Optional

·         Sliced Mushrooms

·         Green Onions

·         Black olives, sliced

·         Fresh Tomatoes, diced

·         Chicken pieces

·         Avocado

·         Apple Cider Vinegar

·         Salt

Method:

1.      Heat a large frying pan to medium, high heat. Add a small amount of oil ( about ½ teaspoon) and spread it around the bottom of the pan with a spatula ( you could use butter as well). Take one large flour tortilla and place it in the pan. Flip the tortilla over a few times, 10 seconds between flips. Air pockets should begin to form within tortilla.

2.      When pockets of air begin to form, take a handful of grated cheese, sprinkle over the top of the tortilla, making sure that the cheese does not land on the pan itself. Add whatever additional ingredients you choose- green onion, sliced mushrooms, olives, tomatoes, etc. If you would like your quesadilla to be a chicken quesadilla, add some diced cooked chicken. Take care not to layer on the ingredients to thickly.

3.      Reduce the heat to low and cover the pan. The cast iron pan should be hot enough by now to have plenty of residual heat to melt the cheese and brown the tortilla. If the quesadilla begins to smoke too much, remove from the heat. After a minute, check to see if the cheese is melted. If not, return the cover and keep checking every minute until the cheese is melted. When the cheese is sufficiently melted, use a spatula to lift up one side of the quesadilla and flip over the other side, as if you were making an omelette.  The tortilla should by now be browned slightly. If it is not browned, turn the heat up to high and flip the quesadilla over every 10 seconds or so until it gets browned. Remove from pan and cut into wedges. To make the lettuce to accompany the quesadilla, thinly slice some iceberg lettuce. Sprinkle some cider vinegar on it and some salt.

Serve with the lettuce, salsa, sour cream and quacamole.
